Safer Schools, Safer Communities

Programme

The conference programme will feature keynote speeches, debates between key international experts; presentations of national and international case studies; working group sessions and visits to schools in the London area.

Four key themes will be explored at the conference:

  • The role of school design, facilities management and security technologies in addressing issues of school safety and security
  • Collaborative multi-agency approaches to school safety, including:
    - Whole-school safety, security and social and emotional learning programmes.
    - Policy initiatives involving national, regional and local governments, schools, children and young people.
    - Local partnerships aimed at raising awareness and improving communication between schools and members of the community to improve safety, security and social outcomes
  • Education, training and support approaches for improved safety, security and social integration of children and young people; for the children's workforce, the youth workforce, teachers, students, administrators, school inspectors, and as part of curriculum development
